News on World Water Day 2013 and the UN International Year of Water Cooperation

In 2013, the Netherlands is host to the global celebrations of World Water Day, 22 March. At the same time, the year 2013 is the UN International Year of Water Cooperation. What is going on? Stay tuned for up-to-date information.

2013 paris 11 feb» Kick-off Meeting of the International Year of Water Cooperation, 11 February 2013, Paris, France – A high level event, including the participation of Mr Michel Jarraud, Secretary-General of WMO and Chair of UN-Water, other eminent personalities, ministers, scientists, UN agencies and youth from different continents. The slogan and key messages for the Year will also be announced in the presence of Ms Irina Bokova, UNESCO’s Director General. Children and youth will participate, in the Pavillion de l’Eau as well, preparing a Youth Declaration on water cooperation.
